We hear people say, “Bethel Family Church is a real come as your are type of church.” Some people are on a pathway to healing or restoration, others are just beginning their walk with God. You will see people from various ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. You will see people of senior adults, youth, and middle aged people serving in all areas of the church.
We believe Church is not about sitting, watching, and consuming services, but church is about people using their God given gifts, talents, and abilities to strengthen, encourage, and build the Body for Christ and His Church.
We chose BETHEL as it was a place in the Bible where lives were impacted and changed when they encountered God. Our worship service is designed so that each person is free to engage God in worship. We will encourage you to express your heart toward God because we know that in times of worship our hearts are open to God and He is faithful to direct, confirm, and speak to our hearts as we focus on Him. So, if you are just now starting to walk with God, coming back to faith, or re-investigating previous held beliefs, you can come as you are and connect with people who are on a similar journey.
We invite you to be our guest!
We see BFC as a place where people come to connect and engage with God.
Where people are welcomed without pretension and can effectively learn to walk out their faith with others.
Where people grow as disciples, disciplers, and fishers of men.
A place that looks like the peoples of our city in ethnicity and expression.
Where people can find hope, restoration, transformation, and purpose in Christ.
We exist to help people to: Know, Grow, Go with God and His purposes for their lives.
Know God: Come to Know God and progressively know Him throughout life.
Grow and find freedom and life transformation in Christ.
Go on Mission with God to make a difference wherever He leads.
Our Mission is to equip and disciple believers to reach, serve, and disciple others with God’s love as they grow into the gifts, abilities, and passions that He has given them.
God’s Word as our ultimate guide for life, identity, and purpose.
Being INSYNC with God and His direction for our Next Steps.
Pursuing Others with God’s love.
Equipping and Discipling believers for ministry.
Living out our faith.
One of the last things Pastor Billy wanted to do was ‘start a church’ especially in his home town. He knew too much about both big and small ministries/church and he was content to be a missionary and mobilize people who wanted to GO with God.
It took some time, but God confirmed their direction to begin a new church in Sedalia. In the process we connected with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (see video below). They began the process of planting Bethel Family Church in 2008 with bibles studies in our home, with up to 15 people, while doing various things to bless people in the community.
Eventually we decided to find a building to begin having services, unfortunately we started during right in the middle of the Missouri State Fair, horrible decision, but God has been faithful through it all!
Now several years as a church with lots of ups, downs, and lessons learned, we look forward to what God desires to do in and through us a church. Maybe, God is sending you to use your gifts and abilities to walk with us to help people Know, Grow, and Go on Mission with God.
Jesus said 7 words when He was 12 that point to His purpose. I must be about my fathers business.
Bethel Kids is a place where your kids will learn about God’s love and purpose for their lives. They have memory verses, worship, and many applicable lessons to help them grow in Christ.
We use Groups to help people grow further in God’s word and other aspects of life. We also use them to develop group leaders, do outreach, and serve in various ways. We believe that Groups help us to be sharpened while we grow with others.
Pastor Billy was born and raised in Sedalia, Missouri and he is a 2007 Missiology graduate of Regent University. In 2000 he pursued pastoral training in Oklahoma, and it was there that he met and later married his wife Chaunta. Upon graduation from Bible School, Billy spent three months in Peru as a missionary. Since then he has traveled to Brazil and Spain for mission work. Since arriving in Sedalia he has served and continues to partner and serve on various boards in the community. He also Pastor Billy also serves in various capacities within the Gateway District of Foursquare Churches. Billy believes that believers have a part to play in the work of the ministry according to the things God has placed within them. He desires to mobilize and equip believers for the work of the ministry and believes that the local church is God’s sleeping giant, that when awakened, will show God’s heart to the world and properly represent the work of the kingdom in the U.S. and other parts of the world.
Our kids team is made up of people who love kids and desire them to have a real understanding and connection with God. Several of them are elementary school teacher and their organization and passion for Jesus shows through all that they do.
Our J12 team has a heart for kids in this 10-13 age range and know for themselves that if they realized that God has a purpose for them that it will change and impact how they move through the challenges that life will bring.
We teach and seek to walk out biblical truths in our daily lives. We are a Foursquare Gospel Church. What is that? To put it simply, we are followers of Christ and believe four central things about Christ. We believe that He is our Savior, Our Healer, Our Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, and Our Soon-Coming King.
The term “Foursquare Gospel” came about during an intense revival in the city of Oakland, Calif., in July 1922. To a crowd of thousands, Aimee Semple McPherson explained Ezekiel’s vision in the book of Ezekiel, chapter one. Ezekiel saw God revealed as a being with four different faces: a man, a lion, an ox and an eagle. To Sister Aimee, those four faces were like the four phases of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the face of the man, she saw Jesus our Savior. In the face of the lion, she saw Jesus the mighty Baptizer with the Holy Spirit and fire. In the face of the ox, she saw Jesus the Great Burden-Bearer, who took our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. In the face of the eagle, she saw Jesus the Coming King, who will return in power and victory for the church. It was a perfect, complete Gospel.
It was a Gospel that faces squarely in every direction; it was the “Foursquare Gospel.” The four symbols perhaps most identified with Foursquare today are the cross, cup, dove and crown which stand for Jesus the Savior, Jesus the Healer, Jesus the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus the Soon-Coming King, respectively.
Foursquare started in revival that later developed into a denomination to help facilitate the mission of sharing Christ in the world and working inter-denominationally with other who believe and exalt Jesus as Lord.
